SUITABILITY: At first, and perhaps even second, glance Aerith doesn't look like the type LILITH would bring. She appears demure, frail, with no combat knowledge to speak of. A self proclaimed flower girl from the slums, Aerith grew up in a loving home with a single mother. What could she possibly offer to LILITH that they couldn't get elsewhere? Aerith isn't the Disney princess she appears to be — or rather, she is, but with caveats. She grew up in a loving home with her adoptive mother in the slums of the city of Midgar, an oligarchy run by the Shinra Electric Power Company after escaping a Shinra lab with her biological mother. Aerith also grew up with the knowledge that she is the last of the Cetra, an ancient race of people who previously inhabited her home world thousands of years ago. With this comes the knowledge (or is it burden?) of being able to communicate with the planet itself, though Aerith has her troubles doing so. Sector 5, the slum she grew up in, is rife with monsters and other more mundane dangers, and Aerith can navigate them all with ease. She has the innate ability to cast magic thanks to her heritage — and it's that heritage that's kept her in Shinra's crosshair ever since her escape. The girl is a fighter; perhaps not of the physical kind, though she's not afraid to hit monsters or people with her staff (or a steel chair). Her role is support, to heal, to mend, to aid life, whatever that may take. And it's not an easy burden to have; Aerith gave her life to do that very thing, in the hopes that she can protect her planet.

LILITH will appreciate her chutzpah and her healing ability. She'd be drawn to the med bay, to help the staff with with the sick and injured, and will even use her abilities to make sure the patients therein are well tended to. She's no slouch against monsters of the small and large variety, either, and if assigned patrols or ordered to fight kaiju she'll go without hesitation, bringing all she has to bear. She can buff her allies magic, grant temporary invincibility, cast shields against magic and small projectiles, and absorb the life force from her foes to empower her own abilities. Additionally, Aerith can use materia, orbs of crystallized magic to cast various spells of the elemental or healing variety. She can even summon kaiju of her own, but she needs the right materia for that and she won't have any on her person on arrival. She's powerful enough as she is.

POWERS & SKILLS: — As the last of the Cetra, Aerith has the ability to cast magic innately, usually in the form of healing spells, arcane wards, arcane shields, and larger bursts of power to damage her foes. Her specific abilities are as follows (in game description, followed by a non-video game mechanic description where applicable):

  • Tempest: Aerith fires out a crystal made of magic energy that stays locked in place where she fired it. After a few seconds, it detonates, causing projectile magic damage to any enemy within the blast radius.
  • Soul Drain: Aerith absorbs a portion of an enemies life force, adding it to her own to boost her magic.
  • Arcane Ward: Conjure a ward. Attack spells cast within the ward will automatically be cast twice. Aerith can also teleport to this ward from a distance of a few meters away when it is deployed.
  • Sorcerous Storm: Deal magic damage to nearby enemies.
  • Fleeting Familiar: Summon a fairy that attacks your enemies periodically as well as after you use abilities and spells.
  • Ray of Judgement: Fire an energy burst that hits multiple times.
  • Lustrous Shield: Conjure a magical shield that keeps enemies at bay and stops small projectiles.
  • ATB Ward: Aerith gives up a portion of her own stamina, rendering her temporarily a little weaker and tired, to boost the stamina of a person in her immediate vicinity.
  • Healing Wind: Aerith conjures a light wind, healing minor wounds and afflictions from the people in her immediate area.
  • Planet’s Protection: Aerith asks the planet to help protect her friends, shielding them from any and all physical damage taken.
  • Transcendence: Taking up a minute to concentrate, Aerith focuses all her magic power into several magic beams which she then fires at her target.


Additionally, Aerith can hear the ‘cries of the planet’, and sense when people have died. This is because on her home world, Aerith’s lineage as a Cetra gives her the ability to tune into the Lifestream, an energy that the planet uses to, well, live. This affinity also grants Aerith visions of a place known as ‘The Promised Land’, a place said to be rich in mako energy, as well as visions of her own future.

NERFED POWERS: Aerith’s Planet’s Protection skill will lose its ability to nullify all damage and will instead just make anyone within an arm’s length radius just more durable, due to the fact this is not her home planet and she can't communicate with it. Aerith will also not be able to use any of her Lifestream skills, such as visions of the future, communicating with the deceased, and listening to the voice of the planet.

PERSONAL ITEM: A milky white orb made of crystallized magic, just shy of being too big to comfortably sit in the palm of Aerith's hand. It was a gift from her mother, and it's good for nothing at all.
